Hi my love,
I'm so glad you're here.

First thing's first, I am soooo sorry that this is happening to you. 2020 was supposed to be one hell of a year for you, and my heart is breaking just thinking about the anxiety and stress that this pandemic has likely been causing you and your loved ones. I want you to know that I am here to help you navigate this extremely challenging time, and that no matter how much your wedding plans change, I am still committed to being your wedding videographer!

To those of you who have already reached out to understand your options, or to postpone your big day: kudos to you for handling this unprecedented situation with such grace, kindness and positivity. I'm not sure what I did to deserve such amazing clients, but dang, I'm one lucky wedding videographer!

I hope you find the information on this page useful. I will keep adding to it as the situation evolves and as I receive more questions from my brides! If you have any questions or concerns, my virtual door is always open — feel free to schedule a FaceTime chat with me, or to send me a DM and/or email if your wedding plans change, to vent, or just to get your mind off things. You are all so important to me, and if there is anything at all that I can do to make your lives easier, just give me a shout!

We'RE CONSIDERING POSTPONING OUR 2020 or 2021 Wedding. What's your rescheduling policy?

Prior to COVID-19, the rescheduling policy in the Dear Darling contract only covered weddings that were postponed within the same calendar year — obviously, as you can imagine, the circumstances have made us have to expand our rescheduling policy to accommodate couples who wish to reschedule into the following year.

If you eventually decide that you need to postpone, you have a couple of options:

OPTION 1: Choose a later date in 2021 (weekends OR weekdays), and as long as we are available, we will move your date free of charge.

OPTION 2: Choose a 2022 date (weekends OR weekdays), and as long as we're available, we will move your date free of charge.

Once you've officially decided to move forward with a new date, we will send you a new contract to sign. It should be a duplicate of your last contract, with the only difference being your new wedding date!

Once you've decided on a "Plan B" Date...

We're CONSIDERING A NEW WEDDING DATE THAT DEAR DARLING FILMS IS UNFORTUNATELY NOT AVAILABLE FOR. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Not all hope is lost! We have partnered with some of Ottawa's very best wedding videography companies to cover for one another in the event that some of our clients reschedule their weddings on dates that we are no longer available. Essentially, Dear Darling Films would still manage the pre- and post-wedding work such as communicating with you and editing your wedding final film, but another company would be there on your wedding day to shoot.

We trust the companies that we've partnered with wholeheartedly (they took Natasha under their wing when she was first starting out in wedding videography, and taught her everything she knows!), and know that they would do a tremendous job on your wedding day.

If you are 100% set on a new date that we are not available on, let us know and we will reach out to our partners to see if they are available. If they aren't, we will begin the cancellation process (but we hope it never has to come to this!!)

In the event of a cancellation, deposits are non-refundable.

Myself and/or My Partner haVE been laid off and/or affected financially due to COVID-19, and we have a payment coming up. Can we defer our payment?

We are allowing Dear Darling clients to defer their second instalment (which is due 4 months before their wedding) in the event that they are unable to make a payment on their scheduled payment date. This payment (as well as the third and final payment) will only be due 30 days before your wedding date. If you and your partner end up choosing to postpone to another date either later in 2021 or sometime in 2022, the third and final payment date will also be postponed and you will only be billed 30 days prior to that new date. Unfortunately, we cannot defer the third and final payment that is due 30 days before your wedding date seeing as the base package needs to be paid in full in order for us to be present on your wedding day.

If you know that you will not be able to make your second payment and you have set your payments to auto-pay in our client portal, we ask that you please send us an email at least 48 hours before your payment is scheduled to go through so that we can stop our payment system from charging your credit card.

frequently asked questions

Is it possible to put our Plan B Date on hold? We are still considering going through with our original Wedding date but want to make sure that we have a backup date confirmed, just in case!

First of all, let me just say that I compleeeetely understand the anxiety that comes with not knowing how this will all turn out. For that reason, we are more than happy to put a Plan B date on hold for you (even if you don't ultimately decide to go through with your Plan B scenario). All you need to do is check our online calendar to make sure we're available, and send us an email to confirm. We will proceed to make your Plan B date "unavailable" on the online calendar, so don't panic if you go back to the calendar and notice that your Plan B date is no longer there! You do not have to wait until a certain date to reach out and reserve your Plan B date — so yes, even if you're a September or October bride, you can put a Plan B date on hold with us!

One small clarification: your Plan B date must take place either sometime in 2021 or in 2022, and we cannot place more than 1 Plan B date on hold for you.

We're thinking about having a small wedding ceremony now, and a larger reception later. Will you be able to film both our ceremony and reception, even if they take place on different days?

These types of scenarios will have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. It will also depend on the small gathering restrictions and guidelines that are in place at the time of your planned ceremony and/or reception. If it is legal and safe to do so —  and we are available on both dates — we can split the total number of hours of coverage included in your wedding film package to cover the two separate events. If you find yourself in this type of situation, please reach out to us by email and we'll go from there.
